AEGEE Europe

prvaAEGEE (Association des Etats Généraux des Etudiants de l’Europe / European Students’ Forum) is a student organisation that promotes co-operation, communication and integration amongst young people in Europe. As a non-governmental, politically independent and non-profit organisation AEGEE is open to students and young professionals from all faculties and disciplines – today it counts 13.000 members, active in more than 200 university cities in 40 European countries, making it the biggest interdisciplinary student association in Europe.

AEGEE Zagreb

prva AEGEE-Zagreb was founded in 1993 and since then has grown into a strong subsidiary of AEGEE-Europe that now holds over 100 members. Over the years we have successfully organized a number of events on both local and European levels such as cultural exchanges, conferences, summer universities, celebrations and foreign language courses.

So far we have taken care of hundreds of young Europeans. Some of them have come to visit us for an entire semester, others just for the period of two weeks. In all occasions we have strived to familiarize them with our lives and distinctivenesses whether it being dancing folk dances, tying a tie or haggling on Hreliæ. Alongside of promoting Croatian culture with the emphasis on the student life of Zagreb, we have also provided a number of events for domestic students concerning topics of higher education, European integrations and many others.

Why join?
-For you have never been to Ryazan and Lisbon both in the same year?
-For you don't even know where Ryazan is in the first place or the reason why anyone would go there?
-For you suddenly developed an inexplicable urge to travel to Ryazan, only you don't know how?
-For you may be able to visit Lisbon, but why not do it from a perspective of its students and accompanied by 20 other from all around Europe, in a way you can afford?
-For you would like to visit the Hague Tribunal, volunteer for visually handicapped people in Madrid, learn French in Paris or all of the above?
-For you have never eaten stroopwafel or drank palinka?
-For you are interested in human rights, dancing or sustainable development and want to internationally connect with others that share similar interests?
-For you are willing to help Zagreb become involved in European multicultural circuits?
For that all of this becomes a part of your unique European experience!

AEGEE – for everyone can find a reason why
Members of AEGEE-Zagreb are of various age and academic backgrounds yet still manage to find many common interests. Europe for us is not just a geographic and political construct but a unique network of over 15000 potential friends.
We find informal education, especially within the international perspective, to be the foundation for personal, academic and professional development and for the achievement of different goals. Our organization offers its members the opportunity to actively participate in events held all across Europe and meet other active and responsible students that organize them, and as well encourages voluntary work on both local and European levels (working groups and projects). Our members practice social and organization skills and develop specific and practical competences in Internet technologies or public relations that can easily be put to a good use during the course of a future career.

Every Monday from 20:30 at the Cro Art Photo Club, Gajeva 25 in Zagreb. Feel welcome to join us, have a drink with us or show initiative and get involved in organizing some of the upcoming events!
